Tips to Prepare for Your Audition

  • Listen to the audition song 3-4 times prior to singing/playing along

  • Listen to the audition song arrangement for your particular part/instrument 

  • Practice each section of the song (Chorus, Verse, Bridge, Instrumental) individually and then all together

  • Vocals, practice your lead song with and without the original lead vocals

  • Use the internet as a resource to help you prepare

FAQs

PREPARING FOR YOUR ONLINE AUDITION SUBMISSION

  • All audition songs are pre-selected. The links to the audition songs are provided above, along with the arrangements for those songs.

  • Lead vocals typically sing melody throughout the entire song. Harmony vocalists blend complimentary notes along with the melody to add feeling, depth, and texture to the song. A barbershop quartet is one example of blending a lead vocalist together with tenor, bass, and baritone harmonies.

DURING YOUR AUDITION

  • The arrangements of the songs are outlined above.

  • Vocalists: You will be asked to record two parts using the same song:

    • Lead Vocal (Melody): Sing the lead melody line of the selected audition song.

    • Harmony Vocal: Then, using the same song, record yourself singing a harmony part along with the melody.

      For example, if you are a female you will sing "Goodness of God", you will first sing the melody line, then submit a second video performing a harmony part with the same track.

    Instrumentalists will play along with the provided song.

  • There will be 1-3 people facilitating your audition.

AFTER YOUR AUDITION

  • Our Audition Team will reach out to you within 48 hours of your scheduled audition to set up a time to talk through feedback and next steps.

  • The next step after a successful audition will be to join our ITOWN Infuse Team. Infuse is the training ground for all of the musicians and vocalists who are in the process of joining the worship team!

    Everyone who serves on the worship team has gone through Infuse. This is where you will receive coaching on everything from tone/pitch to body language on stage. You will also gain knowledge and experience with songs, parts and service flow.

    The goal of Infuse is to build confidence, create unity and develop worship leadership skills.
